MrsG's Other Life

Valentine’s Day is a day for the Fools…

You should call me a fool then….a fool in love! awwww :-)

Valentine's Day bear and card

I thought nothing can surprise me. Just when I thought that Valentine’s Day this year consisted of an addition to my lovely collection of teddy bears and the usual mushy Valentine’s Day card, I received an early and dare I say it, lovely and romantic surprise onValentine’s Day when a gorgeous bouquet of flowers was delivered to our doorstep at 7.45am.

Valentine's Day 2009

Perhaps this was MrG’s way of making up to me since he’s away all weekend doing the 2,000 km bike ride around the South Island of New Zealand. Our friends think he’d do a perfect impression of John Wayne at the end of his road trip! MrG has been given strict orders to text me on every stop he makes so I know that I need not claim the life insurance I have on him.

MT on the move

Truth be told, I fear for MrG’s safety every minute he’s on his motorbike but trying to stop him from doing what he loves is akin to smashing my head on the wall :P

I can’t stop him from doing what he loves, in the same he can’t stop me from doing what I love…Shopping! Travelling!

The flowers, the soft toy and the mushy V-Day card made me feel all loved up inside — goo-ey like a Cadbury chocolate :-) And it’s not in all these material show of things (and there’s a lot of that!) that MrG shows me how much he cares.

It’s the little things like remembering to put in a couple of our picnic chairs in the boot of my car as he knows that there’ll be no chairs at the party we’re going to or putting a couple of comfy pillows for me for any trips that would require a long drive or getting tea organised when he knows I’m working late or volunteering to drive me to and from a party knowing I can’t drive home with litres and litres of Vodka, Riesling and Pinot Gris having a party inside my body.

I know I’m lucky and I’m not taking anything for granted! :-) Gawd, I’m mushy! Can someone shoot me now. PLEASE!

On other non-mushy news…

My V-day was spent with the other people I love..we celebrated my cute nephew, Nathan’s first birthday at Spencer Park where yours truly hosted the party games (Pictures to follow!)

The guests had a blast and apparently were gushing to my sister on how much fun they had (especially the games — ahem)and how funny I was (was I? I was just being myself!).

My belly was aching last night and it wasn’t just because of the lovely Filipino food I had at the party. Attended by some of my wacky friends, the party was one comedy act from start to finish. Fun, fun, fun! And of course, being the Filipino party that it was, the food was over-catered. I suppose we’re having spaghetti and baked macaroni for the next week or two :P

Methinks events planning and hosting is my true calling. I just love, love organising parties and special events and hosting them too. Emceeing wedding receptions and other special events was something I did on the side while I was still living in the Philippines.

50th wedding anniversary - 'renewal of vows'

The most recent hosting gig I did was for my auntie and uncle’s 50th wedding ‘renewal of vows’ celebration on my last trip to Manila last year (June 2008). Oh and yes, I was also the designated Lector at the Renewal of Vows ceremony.

Or perhaps I should be in show business :-) For the drama Queen that I was growing up, my Mum couldn’t agree more!

And for some Bea goodness, guess who still sleeps with her arms up without a care in the world :-)

Your MrG is soooo cooool! That’s a wicked looking bike :) Very adventurous. Oh your nephew is the cutest! Just want to give his cheeks a little pinch for that smile to stay stuck forever! Events and wedding planning huh? Some people have the knack for it :) If you got it, use it! I wish I had it! Wedding organising is the bane of my life at the moment!

@sinta — thanks :-) I love his bike too but have only been a pillion once or twice I think. Hard to go on bike trips with him when we’ve got Bea with us…where do we leave her? :P

Nate is such a cutie, I agree! love his big eyes!

I do love hosting/emceeing — My original dream was to become a news broadcaster — hmm, are they connected? :P
